Information Affairs Authority, Manama, 25 December 2012: The Assistant Undersecretary of Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Interior announced on Monday evening (24th of December, 2012) the detention of a policeman in connection with an online video.

The video shows the policeman slapping a citizen in Aali, a local village, on December 23rd, 2012.

The Assistant Undersecretary stressed that such behavior is unacceptable for any police officer and stated that a legal investigation has been launched. The case was then referred to the police court.

This follows the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to equally subject all those who violate human rights to the just penalty, as seen fit by the court of law.
